Ready to experience Kendo?
Whether you are exploring Kendo for your child, interested in beginning as an adult, or looking for a dojo where you can continue your training, we welcome you to visit La Cañada Kendo Academy.
New students may attend up to two free trial classes.
Get Started
Your first two classes are free.
No previous Kendo or martial arts experience is required.
Youth ages 7 and up, teens, and adults are welcome. Experienced practitioners looking for a dojo are also welcome to visit.
Before your first visit, contact LCKA so we can help you know what to expect.
Your First Visit
Starting is simple.
Contact or register before your first visit.
Come to a regular Monday or Wednesday practice.
Training is from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Beginners receive instruction in basic Kendo movements and techniques.
Beginners only need a shinai (bamboo sword) to begin regular training.
Who We Welcome
Kendo for youth, adults, and families.
Youth & Teens
Ages 7 and up.
Students develop Kendo fundamentals through disciplined, consistent practice.
Adult Beginners
No previous experience is necessary.
Adults can begin Kendo at LCKA as complete beginners.
Experienced Practitioners
Continued training.
Experienced Kendo practitioners looking for continued training are welcome to visit LCKA.
Parents and children may also train together during the same regular practice sessions.

Students come to LCKA from La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose, Altadena, Sunland-Tujunga, Pasadena, Glendale, and surrounding communities, including Burbank and nearby San Fernando Valley areas.
